Dr. Rebecca Bowler is a Senior Lecturer in Twentieth-Century English Literature at Keele University's School of Humanities. She serves as Director of Research Training (Humanities) and Open Day Co-ordinator. Her research focuses on modernist literature, particularly the works of Dorothy Richardson, May Sinclair, and H.D., with a focus on impressionism, food studies, and textual editing. Her monograph Literary Impressionism (2016) and ongoing projects on modernist wellness explore intersections between literature and cultural practices.
Her editorial work includes the Edinburgh Critical Editions of May Sinclair’s works and roles in the Dorothy Richardson Scholarly Editions Project. She has held fellowships at Yale’s Beinecke Library and secured grants from the NEH and British Academy. Professional leadership roles include Chair of the British Association for Modernist Studies (2023) and co-founder of the May Sinclair Society.
Teaching responsibilities include modules on modernist manifestos, Gothic literature, and research skills. Her work bridges literary analysis with material culture, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to modernist texts and their historical contexts.
