Raymond Whiting is a Professor in the Department of Social Sciences at Augusta University's Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. He also serves as the AVP for Faculty Affairs, Instruction & Innovation. Holding a Ph.D. in Social Sciences (Syracuse University, 1988), JD (1985), and BA in Political Philosophy (1982), all from Syracuse University, he is certified in Conflict Resolution and a member of the New York State Bar. His research focuses on the Right to Die, Shared Governance, and legal-political philosophy.
Dr. Whiting has received multiple accolades, including the Governor’s Teaching Fellow (1998) and the Richard S. Wallace Distinguished Service Award (2005). His scholarship explores ethical and legal dimensions of end-of-life decisions, as seen in works like A Natural Right to Die. He actively contributes to public service through roles in anti-racism initiatives, community advocacy, and grant review.
His teaching spans Constitutional Law and American Government. Professional certifications include American Arbitration Association arbitrator (1997) and mediator (1986).
