Dr. Patton's research examines how popular culture and aesthetics intersected with global politics during the Cold War era. His seminal publication Punk Crisis: The Global Punk Rock Revolution (2018) analyzes how punk rock created new identity frameworks that transcended Cold War political categories. The work demonstrates how grassroots cultural movements reshaped international political discourse through conservative and progressive identity politics.
In his administrative role, Dr. Patton oversees the Honors Program's academic development, providing mentorship for high-achieving students through interdisciplinary curricula and research opportunities that connect historical analysis with contemporary social issues.
