Raya AL-Dadah

Raya AL-Dadah is an Associate Professor in Sustainable Energy Technologies and Head of the Sustainable Energy Technology Laboratory at the University of Birmingham. She holds a PhD and BSc in Mechanical Engineering, along with professional qualifications including Chartered Engineer (CEng) status. Her roles include teaching and leading research in sustainable energy systems.

Her research focuses on sustainable energy technologies, including adsorption heat pumps using MOF materials for cooling, heating, and water desalination; organic Rankine cycles for low-temperature energy utilization; and solar energy systems with multi-junction solar cells. She has authored over 200 papers and secured funding from EPSRC, Innovate-UK, and international collaborators.

Raya has built an international research network, collaborating with universities in Egypt, Qatar, Nigeria, and Palestine. Her work addresses global challenges in water scarcity, energy efficiency, and sustainable development.

Advising & Grants: Leads a team of researchers and oversees projects funded by BC, BA, DECC, and industry partners. Her work includes developing MOF-based technologies for desalination and cooling, as well as assessing energy access in conflict zones like Gaza.

Labs & Teams: Heads the Sustainable Energy Technology Laboratory, focusing on innovation in renewable energy systems and advanced materials.
