Ratna Sohanpal

Ratna Sohanpal is a Health Services Researcher at the Wolfson Institute of Population Health, Queen Mary University of London, with a background in dentistry and dental public health. She holds academic qualifications including BDS, MSc, DDPH, and PhD. Her work focuses on improving healthcare outcomes for patients with chronic conditions, particularly COPD, and enhancing inclusive research participation for marginalized communities.

Current research includes leading NIHR-funded studies: the mixed-methods assessment of assistive technology for COPD patients and the INCLUSIVE REMOTE CARE project exploring equitable remote care delivery for minoritised ethnic groups. Previously, she managed the TANDEM RCT evaluating cognitive behavioral interventions for COPD patients and the INCLUDED study improving ethnicity data collection in clinical trials.

Her research interests span complex interventions, remote healthcare innovation, qualitative methodologies, and trial design optimization. Dr. Sohanpal collaborates with the NIHR School for Primary Care Research and multiple centres including the Centre for Public Health and Policy.
