Dr. Rashmi Jyoti is an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at MacEwan University, where she has taught since 2004. She holds a PhD from Maharaja Sayajirao University and has prior teaching experience at the University of Alberta and MS University, India. Her research focuses on Canadian diasporic literature, global literature, and transcultural studies, with a particular emphasis on authors like Michael Ondaatje and M.G. Vassanji.
Education: PhD (Maharaja Sayajirao), MPhil (Panjab), MA (Guru Nanak Dev), B.Ed. (Annamalai).
Her teaching philosophy emphasizes critical thinking, intellectual engagement, and diverse perspectives. She co-authored a book on South Asian diaspora in Canada with funding from the Department of Canadian Heritage and has contributed to instructional workshops at MacEwan.
Awards include a Career Milestone Certificate (2015) and a Canadian Studies Fellowship (2001–2002). She actively participates in academic associations like the Association of Canadian College and University Teachers of English and the Indian Association of Canadian Studies.
