Raquibul Hannan

Raquibul Hannan, M.D., Ph.D., is a Professor of Radiation Oncology and Chief of Genitourinary Radiation Oncology Service at UT Southwestern Medical Center. His research focuses on integrating stereotactic ablative radiotherapy (SAbR) with immunotherapy to improve cancer outcomes, particularly in genitourinary cancers like prostate and kidney cancer. He leads the Hannan Lab, which investigates radiation-induced immunogenicity and translational studies in clinical trials.

Dr. Hannan earned his M.D. from SUNY Downstate College of Medicine and Ph.D. from SUNY Downstate School of Graduate Studies. His residency was completed at Albert Einstein College of Medicine and Montefiore Medical Center. He currently chairs the phase III randomized trial SOAR (EA-8211) for SAbR in oligometastatic renal cell carcinoma.

His research interests emphasize SAbR’s role in oligometastasis, adaptive radiotherapy (PULSAR), and combining radiation with immunotherapy. Key projects include clinical trials on SAbR for primary kidney cancer and metastatic RCC. He holds two international patents and is a member of ASTRO, ABR, and ASCO.

Recent publications focus on SAbR efficacy, radiation-induced immune responses, and renal function outcomes post-SAbR. His work bridges preclinical immunology with clinical trials, aiming to standardize SAbR protocols and enhance patient survival rates.
