Eric Jonasch

Eric Jonasch, MD is a Professor in the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX. His clinical and research focus centers on renal cell carcinoma (RCC), von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) disease, and innovative systemic therapies. He leads multiple Phase I/II clinical trials evaluating novel agents such as HIF-2α inhibitors, checkpoint inhibitors, and targeted therapies for metastatic RCC and VHL-associated malignancies.

Dr. Jonasch's research emphasizes translational approaches to improve outcomes through molecularly targeted treatments, immunotherapy combinations, and clinical trial design. He has contributed extensively to understanding the role of hypoxia pathways in RCC pathogenesis and the long-term efficacy/safety of belzutifan in VHL patients.
