Raquel Martinez Martin is a Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde, affiliated with the School of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Department of Modern Languages. Her academic work focuses on Spanish language pedagogy and cultural studies.

Her research explores representation and culture within Hispanism, emphasizing contemporary Spanish and Latin American cinema, literature, and graphic novels. She investigates themes of labor, precarity, class dynamics, activism, and decolonial approaches in European fiction/documentary films and transnational series. Her scholarship also addresses film literacy, screen cultures, and EDI (Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion) in language teaching.
Her recent publication in The Journal of Catalan Studies analyzes police violence in post-crisis Spanish cinema, aligning with broader interests in institutional violence and austerity policies. This work contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal of Quality Education.
