Raphaela Gilles, MA (born 1997), is a Researcher at the Institute of Educational Science, Ruhr University Bochum (RUB), affiliated with the Collaborative Research Center 1567 'Virtual Lifeworlds' since July 2023. She holds a BA in Linguistics and an MA in Education from RUB. Previously, she served as a student assistant (2017–2020) and research assistant (2020–2023) within the 'Social Spaces and Places of Non-Formal and Informal Learning' research group.
Her research focuses on virtuality in education, including higher education didactics, media practices in virtual environments (e.g., virtual museums, pets), and well-being in digital spaces. She actively presents at conferences, such as the DGfE Autumn Conference (2025) and the Austrian Higher Education Research Network (2025). Current teaching includes courses on media practices with virtual pets and well-being in virtual worlds.
Her work integrates conceptual frameworks for virtual education and participatory methods in research-based learning. Consultation hours are arranged via email.
