Dr. Raphael Zähringer is a postdoctoral researcher in English Literatures and Cultures at the Faculty of Humanities of Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. He serves as assistant editor of the Zeitschrift für Anglistik und Amerikanistik (ZAA). His research focuses on contemporary English and Irish literature, Science Fiction, dystopian narratives, spatial representations in literature, and popular culture, including graphic novels and adaptations.
Education: Studied German and English at Tübingen University and Leeds University (UK), earned a Ph.D. from Tübingen University (summa cum laude) with recognition via the Prof.-Dr.-Friedrich-Schubel-Stiftung Advancement Award. Current research project: 'Writing Moments of Crisis: Ireland, 1596-2018', examining crises and representational challenges in Irish literature.
