Professor Ranjana Das holds a Professorship in Sociology at the University of Surrey's School of Social Sciences. She serves on the University Senate and the Research and Innovation Committee. Her research focuses on technology use, digital datafication, and their intersections with parenthood, families, and media audiences. With a PhD from LSE (2011), she previously held roles at the University of Westminster and Royal Holloway. Key areas include user-centric algorithm studies, digital parenting practices, and media literacy. She leads the Leverhulme Trust-funded project on news use and chairs the Communication and Technology division at the International Communication Association. Her teaching includes digital sociology, media power, and platform societies.
Education: PhD/MSc in Media/Communications (LSE), MA in Mass Communication (New Delhi), BSc in Geography (University of Calcutta).
