Rania Tfaily is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Carleton University, Canada. She holds a PhD from the University of Pennsylvania. Her work focuses on social demography, aging, caregiving, health disparities, family formation trends, and educational inequalities. She actively mentors graduate students and teaches courses ranging from classical sociological theory to demographic analysis.
Her research employs both quantitative and qualitative methods to address socioeconomic inequalities in aging, health, and education. Notable contributions include studies on seasonal influences on social phenomena, polygyny’s impact on HIV transmission, and gender dynamics in education systems. She has also collaborated on projects analyzing cross-national health disparities and family financial support systems in Mexico.
Rania Tfaily is currently accepting M.A. and Ph.D. students. Her teaching portfolio includes courses on sociological theory, power stratification, urban sociology, and women’s roles in Middle Eastern societies. She has contributed to methodological advancements in survey design and item response theory applications.
