Rani West

Rani West is a Biripi woman and Research Fellow at the University of Queensland's Poche Centre for Indigenous Health, affiliated with the Faculty of Health, Medicine and Behavioural Sciences. Her work focuses on addressing health disparities in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities through the ATLAS Indigenous Primary Care Surveillance Network.

Her research spans sexually transmitted infections, blood-borne viruses, and Indigenous data sovereignty. She collaborates with Aboriginal Community-Controlled Health Organisations to improve surveillance systems and health outcomes, emphasizing cultural sensitivity and real-world application.

Recent work includes a 2024 conference publication analyzing maternal STI screening practices in Indigenous primary care settings.
