Randolph Burnside

Randolph Burnside, PhD serves as the Director of MEDPREP and an Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University (SIU) School of Medicine. His career spans over 15 years at SIU Carbondale, where he held faculty and administrative roles in Political Science, Public Administration, and the School of Education.

• PhD in Political Science and Public Administration from the University of New Orleans
• BA in Political Science from Mississippi State University

Dr. Burnside's research focuses on disaster behavior and policy, race relations, and diversity equity initiatives. His current work emphasizes cultural competence in underserved communities, leadership development, and expanding rural healthcare access. He has been recognized for his institutional contributions to antiracism and inclusion.

As MEDPREP Director, he manages day-to-day operations, student recruitment/retention, and serves on the SIU School of Medicine Admissions Committee and System-wide Diversity Initiative Committee.
