Ramesh Saagi is an Associate Senior Lecturer at the Division for Industrial Electrical Engineering and Automation, part of Lund University's Faculty of Engineering (LTH). His work focuses on modelling and control of urban wastewater systems, spanning wastewater treatment plants, sewer networks, and heat recovery systems. He is actively involved in the International Water Association (IWA) through roles such as a management committee member of the Instrumentation, Control and Automation (ICA) group.
Using a blend of mechanistic and conceptual models, Saagi investigates temperature dynamics in sewer systems and develops integrated control strategies for urban wastewater networks. His research aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Water Treatment and Environmental Engineering.
Recent publications highlight trends in hybrid modelling for water resource recovery, city-wide heat recovery analysis, and plant-wide temperature dynamics. Collaborative projects like Urban Arena and System-wide Benchmark Simulation Model reflect his engagement in system-level sustainability initiatives.
As a Principal Investigator (PI) in research grants and a supervisor for multiple projects, Saagi contributes to advancing water and energy recovery in urban environments. He maintains affiliations with Lund University's Profile Area: Water and has supervised research outputs across wastewater treatment, hybrid models, and thermal analysis.
