Rajesh Kharbanda is an Associate Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Consultant Cardiologist at the University of Oxford. His research focuses on ischemia-reperfusion injury mechanisms, remote preconditioning strategies, and optimizing reperfusion therapies in cardiac and cerebral contexts. He develops ex-vivo/in-vivo human models to study heart tissue and blood vessel responses, with clinical applications in heart attack patients and surgical interventions.
Key research areas include adenosine signaling pathways in remote conditioning, microcirculatory recovery post-myocardial infarction, and clinical trials of ischemia-reperfusion mitigation strategies. His work bridges basic science discoveries with translational clinical applications in both cardiology and neurology.
