Thomas Engstrøm

Thomas Engstrøm serves as a Clinical Professor at the Department of Clinical Medicine, University of Copenhagen, holding a dual appointment with the Capital Region of Denmark. He is also a Senior Consultant at The Heart Centre, Rigshospitalet, specializing in cardiology with a focus on internal medicine. His academic career spans over two decades with significant contributions to cardiovascular research and clinical practice.

Dr. Engstrøm's primary research interests center around ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI), reperfusion strategies, and interventional cardiology. His work explores myocardial protection in ischemic heart disease with special reference to reperfusion injury, percutaneous assist devices in cardiogenic shock, pressure-derived strategies in percutaneous coronary interventions, personalized revascularization in frail patients, coronary plaque characterization, and intravascular imaging.
