Raine Aiava is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki's Department of Geosciences and Geography, funded by the Research Council of Finland (2025-2027). Their work bridges human geography, philosophy, and cultural studies, focusing on post-social urban landscapes, nonrepresentational theories, and the affective dimensions of education. They hold a PhD in Human Geography (2020-2024) and an MA in History of Arts and Visual Culture (2013-2014) from the Rhode Island School of Design.

Aiava's research explores enchantment in urban environments, evental politics, and pedagogical spaces. Their projects examine youth encounters with technoscientific urban landscapes and collaborative urban futures, often integrating posthumanist and affect theory frameworks.
Recent publications analyze evental learning in the ontological turn, cinematic influences on post-social geographies, and enchantment's role in reshaping subject-world relations. Collaborative works with N. Pyyry dominate their output, emphasizing affective methodologies and critical spatial practices.
