Joseph Aiava (also Raine Vasquez) is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Helsinki's Department of Geosciences and Geography. Their interdisciplinary work bridges posthumanism, affect theory, and urban studies, with a focus on youth experiences in technoscientific environments. Aiava has received Fulbright and Research Council of Finland grants.
Research examines enchantment as a political force in cities, emphasizing film, art, and participatory methods. Publications engage with nonrepresentational approaches to space and education.
Recent projects analyze cinematic landscapes and participatory ethics. Aiava co-founded the Museum of Impossible Forms and contributes to Nordic Summer University Press. No student advising is noted.
