Rahul Khade is a Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Stevens Institute of Technology, affiliated with the Charles V. Schaefer, Jr. School of Engineering and Science. He holds a PhD (2016) and MS (2013) in Chemical Biology from Stevens, and an MS (2010) in Public Health (Epidemiology and Biostatistics) from USM.
His research focuses on quantum chemical studies of biocatalytic processes involving heme enzymes, emphasizing green synthesis approaches to enhance reaction efficiency while minimizing environmental impact. Key areas include understanding reaction mechanisms in biological systems, protein environmental effects, and sustainable chemical strategies. He has contributed to groundbreaking work on NO binding, C-H insertions, and biocatalytic cyclopropanation reactions.
Dr. Khade’s publications span over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Nature Communications, Angewandte Chemie, and ACS Catalysis, highlighting his expertise in heme models, enzyme mechanisms, and materials science applications. His honors include the Outstanding Achievement Award in PhD Degree in Chemical Biology and the Dr. Ajay Bose Memorial Scholarship.
He has served as a peer reviewer for over 15 journals and is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and Indian Medical Council (IMC). Since 2021, he has been a core teaching faculty member, instructing courses ranging from general chemistry to advanced physical chemistry and thermodynamics.
