Rahman Azari is an Affiliate Associate Professor in the Department of Architecture at The Pennsylvania State University. He serves as Founding Director of the RE2 Lab and holds affiliations with the Hamer Center for Community Design, the Stuckeman Center for Computation Design, and the Institutes of Energy and the Environment (IEE). His work bridges built environments, industrial ecology, and climate change, focusing on mitigating urban building energy use and GHG emissions through simulation-based approaches, environmental impact assessments, and energy-harvesting building technologies.
Research themes include adaptive pathways for energy reduction, integrated environmental-social-health impact assessments, and innovative materials for carbon sequestration. He co-leads the 'Buildings and Energy' and 'Urban GHG Emissions' themes in the $25M Baltimore Social Environmental Collaborative (BSEC), a Department of Energy-funded initiative. His grants include the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Upjohn Grants.
