Rahima Akter

Rahima Akter is a PhD candidate in Business at CQUniversity's Melbourne campus and an Academic Casual with teaching roles in the School of Business and Law. She holds a Master’s from the University of South Australia and a Bachelor’s from the University of Dhaka. Her research focuses on women workers' well-being in Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garments (RMG) industry, addressing issues like gender-based violence and policy implementation. She has been recognized with the Australian Development Scholarship (2012–13) and Bangladesh Government’s award for empowering disadvantaged women (2014).

As a lecturer, she teaches core business courses such as Introduction to Business and Operations Management, employing a blend of constructivist and behaviorist teaching philosophies. Her methods emphasize practical case studies, role-plays, and culturally responsive pedagogy to engage international students. She actively uses Moodle tools like EasyConnect and MAV to monitor student engagement and improve teaching strategies.

Her research interests span corporate governance, human resources management, industrial relations, and international business, with a focus on gender equity and labor rights in developing economies. She advocates for transformative learning approaches to build student confidence and critical thinking.
