Raghav Puri is a Research Associate at the Tata-Cornell Institute within Cornell University's Department of Global Development. His research focuses on the implementation and impact of health and nutrition policies, particularly in low- and middle-income countries. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Syracuse University (2020), an MPP from the National University of Singapore (2011), and a B.A. in Economics from St. Stephen's College, Delhi University (2009). Prior to academia, he worked with the World Bank’s Social Protection and Labor Global Practice in India.
His research interests include policy design and evaluation, social protection systems, international development, and food security. Current projects analyze food subsidies, conditional cash transfers for maternal health, and the transition from in-kind to cash-based safety nets. His work bridges theoretical policy analysis with real-world implementation challenges in India.
Notable publications include studies on India’s National Food Security Act, public distribution systems, and health insurance utilization. He emphasizes practical solutions to improve equity and efficiency in welfare programs. His interdisciplinary approach combines economics, public administration, and development studies to address global challenges in social policy.
