Raffaele ZAGO is an Associate Professor of English Language and Linguistics at the University of Catania, Department of Humanities (DISUM). He teaches English in undergraduate programs such as 'European, Euro-American and Oriental Languages and Cultures' and 'Sciences and Languages for Communication'. His research focuses on applied English linguistics, including spoken English, register shifts, and corpus-based analysis of telecinematic dialogue.
He has co-authored a 2024 bibliography on fictional television and film dialogue with Monika Bednarek and contributed to the 2023 volume Language, Expressivity and Cognition with Serena Bruti. Zago is also the local coordinator of the PRIN project The Informalization of English Language Learning through the Media and serves as DISUM's delegate for Erasmus and Internationalization.
His recent publications emphasize trends in telecinematic discourse, including the 2024 bibliography's exploration of corpus linguistics methodologies and the 2023 chapter on emotional teen dialogue in TV series. Zago's work consistently bridges corpus analysis with sociolinguistic and pedagogical applications.
