Raed Al-Juboori is an Assistant Professor at Aalto University, affiliated with the Department of Built Environment and Water and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on advanced water treatment technologies, particularly membrane-based systems and sustainable materials for pollutant removal. He holds a Doctoral degree in Engineering and Technology from the University of Southern Queensland (2015).
Key research areas include nanocomposite membranes for wastewater treatment, adsorption mechanisms of radioactive isotopes, and bio-based materials for emerging contaminant removal. Collaborations span institutions globally, addressing challenges in radioactive wastewater, pharmaceutical pollution, and sustainable waste valorization. Recent work emphasizes eco-friendly solutions using agricultural byproducts like olive stones and pinewood waste.
His contributions align with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly clean water and responsible consumption. Notable projects include membrane contactor piloting for nutrient recovery and MXene-modified membranes for organic/inorganic separation. He has co-organized conferences on nutrient recovery and contributed to media reports on membrane technologies and environmental impact assessments.
Research highlights include innovative approaches to landfill wastewater treatment, ultrasound-enhanced membrane performance, and life cycle assessments of nutrient recovery systems. His work bridges lab-scale innovations with pilot testing, emphasizing scalability and real-world applicability in industrial and municipal water systems.
