معرفی
Radostin D Simitev is a Professor of Applied Mathematics at the University of Glasgow, part of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics within the College of Science & Engineering. He has held this position since 2006, following roles at the University of Liverpool (2004–2006) and the University of Bayreuth (2000–2004). His research focuses on Mathematical Physiology and Fluid Dynamics/Magnetohydrodynamics, applying nonlinear analysis to cardiac tissue and studying convection in rotating systems relevant to planetary magnetism.
Education:
- Dr. rer. nat. (PhD, Theoretical Physics), University of Bayreuth, 2004
- MSc (Physics), University of Sofia, 2000
- DipHE (Computer and Information Technologies), University of Mining and Geology, Sofia, 1998
- Chartered Mathematician (CMath), Institute of Mathematics and Applications, 2017
Research Interests: Simitev’s work bridges applied mathematics and physics, including cardiac electrophysiology modeling, dynamo theory in planetary systems, and fluid dynamics in rotating environments. His studies explore excitable media, magnetic field generation, and multiscale biological systems.
Grants & Projects: He leads and participates in major grants such as the STFC-funded Hybrid Dynamo Models of Solar Magnetic Cycles and the SofTMech Statistical Emulation Hub. His research also leverages supercomputing resources via STFC DiRAC allocations.
Supervision & Teaching: Simitev has guided numerous PhD students, including recent graduates like Parag Gupta and Tahani Al Sariri. He teaches advanced courses such as Biological and Physiological Fluid Dynamics and Numerical Methods.
