معرفی
Dr. Frank Stefani is a Research Professor at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), leading research in Geo- and Astrophysics, and Magnetohydrodynamics. He holds a Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Leipzig and has been with HZDR since 1996, focusing on numerical simulations of laboratory dynamos and magnetohydrodynamic phenomena. His work bridges geophysics and astrophysics through experimental and computational studies of fluid dynamics in rotating systems.
- Education: Diploma in Physics (TU Dresden), Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics (University of Leipzig)
Research interests include magnetohydrodynamics (dynamo theory, Alfvén waves), geodesy (radar altimetry), quantum theory (disordered systems), and applications in astrophysical fluid dynamics. He pioneered liquid-metal experiments simulating planetary and stellar magnetic field generation, notably the DRESDYN project. His publications explore precession-driven dynamos, magnetorotational instability, and synchronization of solar cycles with climate data.
Key projects include the DRESDYN precession experiment and contactless inductive flow tomography for real-time flow control. His work advances understanding of Earth's magnetic field, stellar dynamos, and industrial fluid dynamics applications.
