معرفی
Dr. Sven Eckert is the Head of Process Diagnostics at the Institute of Fluid Dynamics at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR). His work focuses on experimental fluid dynamics, particularly in liquid metal systems, with a strong emphasis on magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), thermal convection, and flow measurement techniques. He leads research on processes such as Rayleigh-Bénard convection in liquid metals, electromagnetic flow control in industrial casting, and particle-laden flow dynamics. His team develops advanced diagnostic tools like contactless inductive flow tomography and ultrasound localization microscopy to study complex fluid behaviors. Eckert's research bridges fundamental physics with industrial applications, addressing challenges in metallurgy, energy systems, and materials science.
Key research interests include understanding turbulence in low-Prandtl-number convection, optimizing electromagnetic actuators for mold flow control, and analyzing solidification processes under magnetic fields. He collaborates on projects involving neutron and X-ray imaging to visualize two-phase flows and microstructural evolution. Eckert's contributions advance both theoretical fluid dynamics and practical technologies for manufacturing and energy sectors.
His experimental setups include large-scale convection cells, industrial casting simulations, and facilities for studying crystallization in planetary materials. Eckert actively engages in EU-funded projects and technology transfer initiatives, applying fluid dynamics principles to real-world problems in metallurgy and renewable energy systems.
