Radomir N. Saicic

Radomir N. Saicic is a Full Professor at the University of Belgrade's Faculty of Chemistry, Department of Organic Chemistry. He holds leadership roles including Head of the Department (1999–2003 and 2023–present) and is a Full Member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts (since 2018). His academic journey includes a PhD from the University of Belgrade (1991) and postdoctoral research at the Institut de Chimie des Substances Naturelles (France, 1995–1996).

His research focuses on organic synthesis, medicinal chemistry, and development of novel synthetic methodologies. Key achievements include the synthesis of taxoids, abyssomicin C, and oseltamivir, alongside advancements in radical reactions and organocatalysis. He leads projects funded by the Serbian Science Fund and the European Commission, including 'SMART Repurposing' (2020–2022) targeting antiviral therapies.

Notable awards include the 2007 City of Belgrade Award for scientific excellence and the Serbian Chemical Society Medal (1995). His work spans 150+ publications, with recent contributions in RSC Advances, Organic Letters, and European Journal of Organic Chemistry.

Prof. Saicic mentors researchers like Aleksandar Janković and Miloš Pavlović, and his laboratory actively pursues total syntheses of complex natural products. He also chairs the Faculty's Ethics Committee and contributes to strategic planning for scientific development.
