Aleksandra D. Mitrovic

Aleksandra D. Mitrovic is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Belgrade's Faculty of Chemistry. She holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the same institution (2010-2017) and has been affiliated with the Faculty since 2010, progressing through roles including Junior Research Assistant (2010-2011), Teaching Assistant (2011-2018), and Assistant with PhD (2018-2019). Her research focuses on organic chemistry, polymer synthesis, environmental toxicology, and analytical methods. She has received notable awards including the DAAD Fellowship (2012) and Humboldt Research Fellowship (2018). Mitrovic leads and contributes to projects funded by the European Commission and OPCW, including IMPTOX (2021-2025) and MECWA FCUB CIA (2017-2021). She is a member of the Serbian Chemical Society and Humboldt-Club Serbien, and serves on the Faculty of Chemistry's Board since 2023.

Her educational responsibilities include teaching Organic Chemistry 1 & 2, Chemistry of Macromolecules, and Polymer Synthesis courses. Research highlights include developing analytical platforms for microplastic toxicity studies and novel synthetic methodologies. She has authored over 15 peer-reviewed articles in journals like Chemical Science, RSC Advances, and Angewandte Chemie International Edition.
