Radek Przedpełski is a Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin (TCD), affiliated with both the School of Computer Science and Statistics and the School of Engineering. He lectures in interactive digital media in the MSc program at TCD and also teaches at Fuzhou University in China. Przedpełski is a migrant artist and media scholar whose work bridges academic research and artistic practice, with significant contributions to Deleuzo-Guattarian theory and sustainable media practices.
Przedpełski holds a PhD in Digital Art and Humanities from Trinity College Dublin, focusing on 1970s neo-avant-garde intermedia in the People's Republic of Poland. He also earned an MA in Digital Media from Dublin Institute of Technology (with a musique concrète composition as his final project) and an MA in English Philology from Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland.
His research spans geo-media, media archaeology, contemporary art, steppe art, Tatar art, and Eurasian and Eastern European Art. Przedpełski is particularly known for his work on sustainable media practices, having co-founded the Small File Media Festival to address streaming media's carbon footprint. His artistic practice explores earth-cosmos entanglements through sustainable techniques, with installations presented internationally from Galway to Iceland.
Analysis of Przedpełski's publications reveals consistent engagement with Deleuze and Guattari's philosophy, particularly around multiplicity, nomadism, and machinic assemblages. His recent work has expanded into ecological concerns, quantum policy, and digital media's environmental impact, frequently examining Eastern European neo-avant-garde through contemporary theoretical frameworks.
As co-editor of 'Deleuze, Guattari and the Art of Multiplicity' (Edinburgh University Press, 2020), Przedpełski has made significant editorial contributions. He has organized international conferences at TCD on Deleuze and art (2016), art and multiplicity (2018), art in the Anthropocene (2019), and chaosmotechnics (2023).
Przedpełski actively bridges academic research with practical interventions through his work on the 'Tackling the Carbon Footprint of Streaming Media' project with Laura U. Marks. His current research as a Postdoctoral Fellow in TCD's School of Engineering focuses on 'Not a Space Race. Towards a New Quantum Policy,' extending his interests to Quantum and Satellite Communications.
