Rachelle Escamilla serves as a Lecturer in the Humanities and Communication Department within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at California State University, Monterey Bay (CSUMB). She specializes in Public Speaking, Creative Writing, and Poetry, teaching courses including HCOM 229, HCOM 110, HCOM 231, and HCOM 428.
Dr. Escamilla's creative and scholarly interests focus on:
- Chicane Poetry
- Latine Poetry
- Creative Writing
- Public Speaking
With personal experience working in agricultural fields as a child and family connections to the Bracero program, Dr. Escamilla brings a unique perspective to her teaching and is particularly dedicated to supporting students facing similar challenges. Her office hours for Fall 2025 are Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:00pm-5:00pm via Zoom.
