Christiana Pilar Graham

Christiana Pilar Graham serves as a Lecturer in the Department of Humanities & Communication within the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences at California State University, Monterey Bay. She teaches a diverse range of courses including Reading and Writing, Ethics and Critical Thinking, Interpersonal Communication and Conflict, Asian American Literature, and Women's Literature.

Professor Graham's research and teaching interests span Writing/Composition, Critical Thinking, Ethics, Autoethnography, Creative Writing (particularly poetry), Asian American Literature, Women's Literature, and Writing for Social Action with ecological and oceanic themes focused on the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes creating classroom environments based on mutual respect and trust, where students are academically supported while being challenged to deepen their intellectual consciousness.

Professor Graham recently published a book of poetry titled 'Currents' in December 2022. Her scholarly work connects literary studies with social action, particularly in environmental contexts relevant to the California Central Coast region.

Professor Graham maintains an active teaching schedule with courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, preparing students for advanced academic work and professional careers. Her office is located in CAHSS 504-2135, and she holds office hours on Tuesdays from 1:00pm-2:00pm for Fall 2025.
