Associate Professor Rachel Winterton is Deputy Director at the John Richards Centre for Rural Ageing Research, La Trobe University. Her research focuses on enhancing health and wellbeing for older rural populations, emphasizing volunteerism and community-sector responses. She holds a PhD from Victoria University and has led grants from the Australian Government and philanthropic partners. Her expertise includes rural gerontology, age-friendly healthcare, and dementia care. She co-chairs the National Volunteering Research Network and advises on rural ageing policy.
