Rachel Whatmough

Rachel Whatmough serves as a Clinical and Academic Tutor at the Salomons Institute for Applied Psychology within Canterbury Christ Church University's School of Sciences, Psychology, Arts and Humanities, Computing, Engineering and Sports. A registered Clinical Psychologist with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), she brings extensive NHS experience from Guy’s and St Thomas’, Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust, and Maggie's Cancer Care Centre, alongside prior teaching roles at University College London (UCL).

Her academic credentials include a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from King’s College London's Institute of Psychiatry (2009) and specialized Mindfulness Teacher Training from Bangor University.

Dr. Whatmough specializes in Health Psychology and Clinical Psychology, with deep expertise in the psychological impact of chronic physical conditions including cancer and chronic pain. Her integrative clinical methodology combines Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy, and Systemic approaches to address mental health challenges across the severity spectrum for working-age adults.

In her academic capacity, she delivers lecture-based instruction, manages trainee clinical psychologists, coordinates teaching units, and supervises doctoral research for the Clinical Psychology Doctorate programme, while maintaining active clinical practice.
