Rachel Wellhausen is a Professor of Government at the University of Texas at Austin, with a courtesy appointment in the Business, Government, and Society Department at the McCombs School of Business. She holds affiliations with the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies, the Center for European Studies, and Native American Indigenous Studies. Her research focuses on international political economy, examining multinational corporations, political risk, global waste trade, and international investment law.

She received the Best Book Award from the International Political Economy Society (2015-2017), the Michael Wallerstein Award (2016), and the Mancur Olson Award (2011-2012). Her research is supported by the National Science Foundation, Federal Reserve, and Research Council of Norway.
