Professor Rachel Tribe is a Professor of Maternal & Perinatal Science and Vice Dean for Research and Impact at King’s College London’s Faculty of Life Sciences and Medicine. Her research focuses on improving pregnancy outcomes through studies of innate immunity in the reproductive tract, uterine physiology, and preterm labour prevention.
Education: PhD in Physiology from United Medical and Dental Schools (1992); BSc in Physiology and Zoology from University of Sheffield (1988).
Research interests include host defense peptides, ion channel regulation in myometrium, and translational studies on biomarkers for preterm birth prediction. She leads projects like the INSIGHT study validating host defense peptide biomarkers and the SuPPORT trial comparing cervical treatments.
Recent work emphasizes KV7 channel-based tocolytics and maternal age impacts. Awards include the GL Brown Lecture Prize (2016) and American Heart Association Fellowship (1993).
She oversees 64+ research projects including clinical trials on progesterone treatments and air pollution’s neonatal effects. Collaborates internationally on maternal-fetal health innovations.
