Rachel Shaw is Professor and Deputy Head of the School of Psychology at Aston University's College of Health and Life Sciences. She serves as Director of Research for the Applied Health Research Group and Wellbeing Lead for the College. Her internationally recognized work advances applied qualitative research in psychological and health sciences.
Her research focuses on workplace wellbeing, evidence-based clinical solutions, intervention development through stakeholder engagement, and qualitative evidence synthesis. Key contributions include informing the WHO's Guide to Qualitative Evidence Synthesis and NICE Guidelines through rigorous lived experience accounts of illness diagnosis, treatment development, and management. She integrates quantitative/qualitative methods with psychological theories to drive practice recommendations.
Recent publications demonstrate strong trends in healthcare intervention design, particularly staff wellbeing in critical care settings and patient-centered qualitative approaches.
