Rachel P. Harper

Rachel P. Harper holds the rank of Associate Teaching Professor in the Department of English at the University of Missouri and serves as Associate Dean of the Honors College and Missouri Scholars Academy. She coordinates the Honors Humanities Series and previously directed the MU Writing Center for a decade. Her academic background includes a PhD in American Literature (2004) and a BA in English/Spanish (1994), both from the University of Missouri and Illinois Wesleyan University respectively.

Her teaching focuses on humanities education and writing pedagogy. Current scholarly work involves editing Jean Kenyon Mackenzie's 1928 novella The Trader's Wife. Notable awards include the 2023 Faculty & Alumni Award and multiple teaching excellence recognitions (Kemper Fellow, Purple Chalk Award).

Leadership roles include Honors College administration and Writing Center direction. She has taught at MU since 1996, with continuous involvement in the Humanities Sequence since 1998.
