Rachel Hunter is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Chester, Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. She specializes in Early Years education and teaches on the BAQTS (Early Years and Primary pathways) and PGCE Primary courses. Rachel leads a third-year module on assessment for learning in the EYFS and serves as a Personal Academic Tutor and University Based Teacher Educator Mentor.

Rachel's research focuses on Early Years pedagogy inspired by Reggio Emilia, emotional wellbeing of young children, relationship-based pedagogies, and the role of pedagogical documentation in fostering belonging and wellbeing. She has participated in two Reggio Emilia study tours and led long-term enquiry projects with children and families in Telford.
Her professional contributions include involvement in Erasmus+ research projects with preschools across Europe, examining approaches to high-quality early years education. She presented her MA dissertation research on pedagogical documentation and wellbeing at the Children and Childhoods conference in 2022.
