Dr. Rachel Goff is a Lecturer in Social Work & Human Services at the School of GUSS, RMIT University, Melbourne. She is the co-lead of the GUSS Responsible Practice Group and holds a PhD in Human Welfare Studies and Services from Federation University Australia (2021), focusing on family service interventions and community-based support. Her research integrates design thinking and participatory approaches, emphasizing equity, cultural humility, and community-driven initiatives.
Education:
- Masters Degree by Coursework in Human Welfare Studies and Services (RMIT University, 2015)
- PhD in Human Welfare Studies and Services (Federation University Australia, 2016–2021)
Research Interests:
- Effectiveness of community participation and place-based approaches for diverse communities (e.g., LGBTQIA+, culturally diverse groups)
- Role of design thinking in enhancing social work education, practice, and research
- Power literacy, reflexivity, and socially just outcomes in human services
Teaching: Coordinates and teaches in the Bachelor of Social Sciences/Psychology and Bachelor of Social Work programs, emphasizing student-centered, inclusive, and creative pedagogy.
