Rachel Garfield is a Professor and Research Lead at the School of Arts & Humanities, Royal College of Art. She specializes in experimental film, feminist audiovisual culture, and post-colonial studies. Her work bridges art practice with critical theory, exploring intersections of gender, race, and disability. Current roles include leading research strategy and supervising PhD students on themes like video art and subjectivity under diasporic conditions.
Her research includes the AHRC-funded 'Legacies of Stephen Dwoskin’s Personal Cinema' project, examining archival and digital methodologies. She co-edited Dwoskino: The Gaze of Stephen Dwoskin (2022), shortlisted for the Kraszna-Krausz Award.
