Thandi Loewenson is a Visiting Professor at Aarhus School of Architecture (Denmark) and Graduate School of Architecture, University of Johannesburg (South Africa). She is a Researcher at EQUINET (Regional Network on Equity in Health in East and Southern Africa), co-founder of the architectural collective BREAK//LINE, and contributor to Radical Matter Research proto-Centre at the Royal College of Art.
- PhD in Architectural Design from The Bartlett, UCL (2019)
- Inaugural Black Digital South Artist in Residence at University of Johannesburg (2023)
Her research focuses on urban development, spatial politics, and post-mining futures, using fiction as a design tool and participatory performance to challenge extractive agendas. Key projects include the Weird-Tender initiative with Lusaka City Council and Chunga Waste Recyclers Association.

Thandi collaborates with communities, policymakers, and artists, with notable outputs including policy documents, films, and the excavation of a spaceship from a city landfill. She co-curated the Race, Space & Architecture open-access curriculum and mentors research student Linn Phyllis Seeger.
