Rachel Brulé is an Associate Professor of Global Development Policy at the Frederick S. Pardee School of Global Studies and Affiliated Faculty at the Boston University Institute for Global Sustainability (IGS). She is also Core Faculty of the Human Capital Initiative at the Global Development Policy Center. Her research focuses on the causal impact of institutional changes on marginalized groups' political engagement, blending experimental methods with qualitative analysis.
- Education: PhD in Political Science (Stanford University), MSc in Forced Migration (Oxford), MSc in Development Management (LSE), BA in International Relations & African Studies (Mount Holyoke).
Her work explores themes such as gender equality laws in India, climate change's effects on women's political engagement in Bangladesh, and the role of quotas in reducing oppression. She has been awarded the Luebbert Prize (2021) and holds Truman and Marshall Scholarships.
Current projects include studies on deliberation rules in Indian governance, peer mentorship for female politicians, and multi-dimensional quotas' impact on inter-group relations. She collaborates with institutions like SEWA Bharat and researchers globally.
