Rachel Barnard serves as an Instructor of Voice (Lecturer) at Oklahoma City University's Wanda L. Bass School of Music within the Department of Voice, where she has taught for nearly twenty-two years.
Her educational background includes:
- Bachelor of Fine Arts in Opera Performance from Purchase College
- Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University
Ms. Barnard specializes in vocal technique development across multiple performance genres, emphasizing breath coordination, tension release, and adaptable pedagogical approaches. Her research interests focus on holistic voice training methodologies that bridge classical foundations with contemporary styles including musical theater and cabaret, while maintaining vocal health through personalized student-centered instruction.

As a dedicated mentor, Ms. Barnard has guided students to successful careers on Broadway, regional theater circuits, cruise lines, and Disney theme parks globally, with numerous alumni establishing music education careers across the United States and Europe. She maintains active professional engagement through the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and Pi Kappa Lambda honor society.
Ms. Barnard contributes to Oklahoma's performing arts ecosystem through ongoing collaborations with professional ensembles including the Tactus Vocal Ensemble and Oklahoma City Philharmonic, while maintaining a private studio focused on comprehensive vocalist development.
