Kelly Holst serves as Professor of Voice at Oklahoma City University's Wanda L. Bass School of Music, where she has taught voice and vocal pedagogy since 2012. An accomplished lyric coloratura soprano, she maintains an active performance career spanning opera, oratorio, and concert repertoire with major ensembles including the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and Handel and Haydn Society of Boston.
Her educational background includes a BA from Luther College, MM from Indiana University, and DMA from the University of Michigan. Dr. Holst's scholarly focus integrates scientific principles into voice instruction through deep exploration of vocal anatomy and physiology, vocal health, and genre-specific pedagogy across classical, pop, and musical theatre traditions. She has completed advanced training including Dr. Ingo Titze's Principles of Voice Production course and clinical observation with speech-language pathologists specializing in gender affirming voice therapy.
Dr. Holst's professional recognition includes multiple National Association of Teachers of Singing awards and Metropolitan Opera auditions honors. Her mentorship has launched graduates into diverse careers across national tours, regional productions, cruise lines, recording studios, and Disney performances worldwide. She serves as an adjudicator and leader within NATS, having held roles including Oklahoma District Governor and Chapter President.
