R. Todd Coy is a Professor in the School of Business & Social Sciences at Colby-Sawyer College since 2005. He holds a Ph.D. from Tufts University and a B.A. from the University of Houston. His research focuses on the biological basis of behavior and psychopharmacology, particularly studying nicotine, caffeine, and sucrose interactions with psychotropic drugs. Coy teaches courses in biological psychology, drugs and behavior, research methods, and statistics.
His work includes exploring how dietary components like sucrose modulate morphine and opioid effects, as well as nicotine's impact on cognitive tasks like the Stroop test. He has also investigated educational aspects, such as textbook format effects on student performance. His research combines behavioral neuroscience with pharmacological studies, often using animal models to understand drug interactions.
Coy has presented at major conferences including the Association for Psychological Science and the Society for Neuroscience. His publications span journals like Nutritional Neuroscience and conference proceedings, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to psychopharmacology and behavioral science.
