R. Brian Siebeking is affiliated with the University of Virginia's Religious Studies department, where he has served as an Instructor and Teaching Assistant. His academic journey includes a PhD in Religious Studies (expected 2015), an MA in Religious Studies (2013) from the University of Virginia, an MA in Arab Studies (2008) from Georgetown University, and a BA in Politics (2004) from Messiah College.

His research focuses on classical Arabic literature, Islamic literary genres, Qurʾānic studies, Islamic ethics, Sufism, and interfaith relations. He has presented at conferences such as the American Academy of Religion Annual Meeting (2014) and the Southeastern Commission for the Study of Religion (2014). Notable works include studies on the Tales of the Prophets (Qiṣaṣ al-anbiyāʾ) and the intersection of Muslim-Christian dialogue with human rights.
He has received several awards, including the Graduate Teaching Award (2011) and the Research Workshop Grant (2013-2014). His teaching includes courses on Islamic Theology, Sufism, and Islam in the Modern Age.
He has also engaged in interdisciplinary work, co-presenting on human rights at Indiana University's Poynter Center (2012). His fellowships include support from Georgetown University and the Virginia Center for the Study of Religion.
