Quentin Masurel is a Hammond-Nisbet Research Fellow at the School of Earth and Oceans, The University of Western Australia (UWA). His career spans academic research, exploration geology, and industry collaboration, with a focus on gold mineralization and craton evolution in Precambrian terrains.
- Education: BSc in Geology (Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Géologie, France, 2009), MSc in Economic Geology (Luleå University of Technology, Sweden, 2011), PhD in Economic Geology (UWA, 2016)
- Institutional Affiliation: The University of Western Australia
Maturel's research examines the 4D evolution of gold districts, particularly in the West African Craton and Yilgarn Craton. His work integrates geological mapping, lithogeochemistry, geochronology, and geophysical datasets to develop exploration strategies. Recent projects focus on multiscale architecture of gold systems in Paleoproterozoic domains and deformation processes in Neoarchean back-arc regions.
His publications highlight trends in craton dynamics, gold mineralization mechanisms, and zircon chronology, with collaborations across Australia, Sweden, and West Africa. Current efforts center on the Yilgarn 2020 project, aiming to identify fluid pathways in gold-nickel camps.
- Scientific Awards: Hammond-Nisbet Research Fellow
Maturel has supervised 4 research projects and contributed to 25 research outputs. His work bridges academia and industry, particularly through partnerships with AngloGold Ashanti and BM Geological Services.
